On this research, two criteria are already utilized: the Mohr–Coulomb (M–C) criterion as well as multi-weak-plane energy criterion for shale formations. These are used to conduct analysis and accomplish the optimization on the failure requirements for shale–sandstone interbedded reservoirs. As illustrated in Figure 9, if the rock’s e
